2010 MEANDERING LUNCH A GREAT SUCCESS

This year’s meandering vineyard lunch was an outstanding success.

The weather was not at its best, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of the 180 guests (yes fully sold out) who ate, drank, talked and danced their way through four family owned and award winning wineries.

Once again, Coney, Croft, Julicher and Te Hera participated. Each winery putting its own imprint on the basic theme.

At Croft, we were pleased to again have Des Britten and friends (Lorraine Britten, David Nichol and Susan Nichol) preparing our food. This year we presented Asian style Salmon on a light noodle salad, partnered with salmon taretare and pearls of orange roe. It was delicious!!!!!

The salmon was offered with Croft Sauvignon Blanc, Croft Chardonnay, Croft Pinot Gris or Crioft Pinot Noir. While all wines had their devotees, the Sauvignon Blanc just edged out the Pinot Gris followed by the Chardonnay, with the Pinot Noir trailing, but only just.

Our entertainment was provided by Tess O’Hara and she certainly got the guests dancing. Our guests really enjoyed her ability to “read the crowd” and play accordingly.

All in all, a great day. Although we are exhausted by 6pm, we can look back on a day of meeting fantastic people, and can then ourselves settle back and enjoy some Asian style salmon with a glass (or two) of Croft Sauvignon Blanc.

See you there in 2011!!
